Mr. Willie Simmons

Hello, my name is Mr. Willie Simmons. I am the new Otterville high school science teacher. I am happily married to my wife Christy. We are blessed to have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. I love to hike, fish, swim, and spend quality time with my family. I also cherish my time being outdoors in nature. I appreciate sunrises, sunsets, and the occasional thunderstorms. My wife is a social worker for the State of Missouri.  We currently live at Lake Ozark, Mo. We love the lake and all of the wildlife surrounding it.

I graduated with honors, May 2014 from the University of Central Missouri. I have a Bachelor’s in Biology and Earth Science. Before becoming a teacher, I was a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for 15 years. I am a 5-year veteran of the United States Army.

This will be my 4th year of teaching science. For the last 2 years I taught 7-8th grade science at Robidoux Middle School in St Joseph, Mo. My first year of teaching,

I love learning, and except for my family, I value education above all else in my life. Many things attract me to teach as a career. I want to inspire students to learn actively and not take their education for granted. Children within our society need positive role models now more than ever. I want to be that example and in-still in them the importance of education. Learning, studying and working hard are keys to achieving success academically. I truly believe that teachers must have the deepest commitment to each of their students. The importance in the quality of education a child receives cannot be over emphasized. It can literally determine the difference between success and failure, not only academically, but also in one’s personal life as well. I feel that we are not only a product of the environment and society into which we are born and raised, but even more so I believe that we are a product of our education. What we learn, the quality of knowledge we obtain, and those experiences have major implications on our lives. A quality education not only gives each student the educational foundation that he or she needs, but also provides them with the skills that are necessary to build a life of success, as a responsible adult and a productive member of society.

I am very excited to be part of the Otterville family and look forward to many years of service in the community.
