Dear Families,

Welcome to fourth grade!  I am looking forward to having your child in my class this year.  Your child will be a part of many exciting and rewarding experiences. We will be exploring many exciting topics in the different subjects.  In language arts, we will be learning about different genres; in science, we will be exploring living things, rocks and minerals, and space. In social studies we concentrate on early U.S. history. Math we will be building on what was learned in 3rd grade.

I will do my best to keep you informed of everything that is going on in our classroom.  I will send a newsletter home each week of what we are going to be doing the following week.  I will also send individual notes home in planners when necessary.  Please make sure you check planners each night so you know what we have done in class and what work your child still may have to do.  The planner is a great way for parents and teachers to stay in contact with each other.

Some expectation I have for 4th grade: Homework should be turned in on time, planners need to be signed daily and returned, and reading logs should be filled out and signed by parents daily.  In addition, classroom/school rules should be followed, students should respect each other and other's property.

A little bit about me...I grew up in Smithton where I graduated high school.  I then attended college at State Fair Community College.  I later transferred to Columbia College where I earned a B.S. degree in elementary education.  I was hired at Otterville in 2000 and a few years later went back to complete my Master's Degree in Administration.  I have been teaching in Otterville ever since.  I enjoy spending time with my family, my animals, and on the farm.  I also love watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals!
