Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

I LOVE music, and that is why I am here at Otterville School to teach music to our amazing students.

Growing up I was always the little kid that wanted to sing all the time.  My grandfather used to tell a story of when I was 4 and got up in front of a large crowd to sing Amazing Grace and kept quitting and telling the guitar player that he was playing the song wrong.  Throughout high school I continued to love music, I played Trumpet and French Horn in band and I also sang in choir and show choir.  In 2006 I returned to college as a non-traditional student and began pursuing my degree in Music Education, I had decided that I loved music and I wanted to instill my love and knowledge of music into others and the best way to do that was to teach.  I received my Associates Degree from State Fair Community College and my Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education from Hannibal LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO.   I had amazing opportunities in college that included singing on stage in Branson, singing in Chicago, and the greatest privilege of singing at Carnegie Hall in New York City, New York under the direction of  British composer John Rutter.

I am now entering my 7th year of teaching and I'm still that girl that wants to sing all the time, I also love to ride horses♥

I absolutely love music and I enjoy teaching students about it and singing along with them in the classroom.  My goal is always to engage all students in what we are doing in class and to conquer their fears and try new things.  There are teachers that I had in school that I will forever remember and I want to be that teacher to my students.
