Mrs. Nichole Hollomon
Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Nichole Hollomon and here is a bit about me. This will be my 8th year teaching at Otterville Elementary. I live in Smithton with my husband, John, and our daughter, Hailey. In our free time we enjoy exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and traveling I am looking forward to getting to know the incoming 5th grade class this year! We are going to have so much fun!
In our classroom learning is promoted through the use of different methods that appeal to all learning styles and students. Our classroom will be a place where students feel free to share experiences, knowledge, and feel like they are part of a team. The way we treat each other in class affects everyone's learning! 5th graders are the oldest elementary students, and therefore are the role models for the elementary. We take pride in that honor!
This year we will be using technology in different ways. Through the use of technology and other resources my goal is to motivate students to look beyond the four walls of our classroom to the world outside and apply what they learn to real world situations. Our classroom will be one where creativity is encouraged.
A student's education is the most valuable resource they will obtain in their lifetime. I have set our classroom goals high this year, but I know that we can accomplish great things together. That being said communication between teacher and parents is key. Keeping everyone informed helps keep us where we need to be. A few communications that you will encounter this year are:
A weekly newsletter posted to our class page covering announcements and news from the classroom, this is your best resource for announcements, upcoming events, and our learning targets each week.
Daily communication through the Class Dojo App - I will send home information on how to sign up for this service. This is a wonderful tool for communication!
Eagle Grams sent home by the teachers to brag about your child.
Phone calls home when needed, or when a goal is accomplished that needs to be shared
I look forward to sharing your child's success in 5th grade, and please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns. This will be a great year!
